The venues at the Jockey Club, a collection of destination events and hospitality venues across the UK, have introduced beehives at Hydock Park racetracks to enhance local biodiversity and provide sustainable residential-grown honey to catering teams.

Welcoming about 100,000 bees in the four hives, the venue’s latest residents will play an important ecological role in the 127-acre site and its wide environment.

Once established, honey produced by bees is expected to promote many dishes as part of the venue’s meetings and event menus, including starters, desserts and cocktails.

As part of the new initiative, Haydock Park will introduce several theoretical and practical training courses for its employees.

The course covers beekeeping crafts, bee lifecycle, how honey extract and prepare, and swarm control.

“We’re looking forward to seeing you in the process of exploring the world,” said Paul Muirhead, deputy general manager of Haydock Park. “In addition to playing an important ecological role, honeybees are also an exciting step towards creating hyperlocal and sustainable ingredients for our menu.

Based in Newton Le Willows in Merseyside, Haydock Park is a massive event venue with 1,000 square meters of indoor display space, complemented by over 13 acres of hard standing.

Suitable for all large meetings and major events, allowing you to accommodate up to 20,000 participants at a time. Plus, its executive boxes and luxurious suites can accommodate gatherings of up to 500 representatives.

Haydock Park Racecourse’s “Pop-Up and Network” will be held on Thursday, June 12th, 2025.
