Customer Experience Agency BrandWidth has partnered with Uber Boat from Thames Clippers to design and develop new native mobile apps on iOS and Android.

The app combines real-time boat tracking, integrated travel planning, ticket sales and access to popular River guides all in one intuitive platform to provide a digital experience for users.

The app serves passengers on 24 London piers and introduces the new “Where is my clipper?” It uses the ability to track the boat in real time to show passenger capacity as well as location via an easy-to-understand signal system.

Behind the scenes, this feature is based on multiple live data sources, explaining unique variables such as river condition and weather.

The BrandWidth team built a fully integrated journey planner to help passengers quickly find the best pier-to-pier routes, check timetables and buy tickets. From singles and returns to hop-on hop-off passes, season tickets and carnets, all with Apple and Google payment support.

“We are pleased to announce that Andrew Ayling, Chief Technology Officer at BrandWidth, said: “By bringing live tracking to the Thames, it means solving a much more complex and fluid environment, reflecting what users expect from rail and bus apps. Working closely with the Uber boat team at Thames Clippers, the final product is not just a feature, it’s truly intuitive and easy to use.”
