Trivandi has acquired Brisbane-based Cutler Synthesized Projects, a specialist event overlay company with experience in multiple Olympics, the FIFA World Cup and international sporting events.
This strategic move will bolster Trivandi’s end-to-end service and follow major milestones, including the launch of Trivandi Academy, the acquisition of light bulbs and the opening of an APAC office.
Event overlays use temporary infrastructure such as seating, broadcast zones and catering facilities to transform existing venues into world-class event spaces.
Since London 2012, Overlay has been the center of Tribandy’s sustainable event delivery, allowing experiences like beach volleyball at Eiffel Tower and 80,000-talent pop-up stadiums in Munich.
“We’re committed to providing a range of services to our customers,” said James Bulley, co-founder and CEO of Trivandi. “This is a crucial moment for Trivandi as it continues to evolve with the changing needs of the industry.
He added: “We will strengthen our ability to meet this challenge. We can combine overlay capabilities with our operational and architectural teams to deliver more creative and efficient solutions and achieve our mission to create an unforgettable experience that offers a sustainable heritage.”
Cutler Synthesided Projects already contributes great value to both the Brisbane 2032 and the LA28 Olympics and Paralympics. These major projects highlight how organizers embrace a more sustainable delivery model. This calls for host cities to optimize existing venues and minimize unnecessary construction, in line with the International Olympic Committee Agenda 2020+5.
Mark Cutler joined Trivandi as global director of overlays. He states: “Our expertise unlocks new possibilities in creating more innovative, sustainable, temporary infrastructure solutions that will have meaningful impacts and help clients navigate the evolving challenges of key event delivery.”
Cutler added: “Instead of building a permanent venue to host empty post events, there is the ability to innovate and develop temporary solutions that prioritize the long-term value of the host city from the start. Paris 2024 used 95% of existing or temporary venues. Requirements.”
The acquisition expands Trivandi’s capabilities across the major event lifecycle, from concepts to post-event legacy, integrating capital works and overlay distribution. Mark Cutler’s expertise brings immediate value, streamline operations, maximizing ROI, improved guest experience, and a lasting legacy.
