US President Donald Trump says he wants to work with his Turkish counterparts to end the Russian war in Ukraine.

President Donald Trump has had a “very good and productive” phone conversation with Turkish counterpart, Receptacle Erdogan, and says he has discussed a wide range of topics, including how to end the Israeli war in Ukraine, Syria and Gaza.

During a call Monday, Trump said Erdogan invited him to visit Turkier and extended the invitation for Turkish leaders to visit Washington, D.C. No dates were announced.

Readings of the call from the Turkish president confirmed that Erdogan invited Trump to visit.

The Republican president, who described his relationship with Erdogan as “excellent” during his first tenure at the White House, said the two countries would cooperate in ending the war in Ukraine.

“I look forward to working with President Erdogan to get a ridiculous but deadly war that the war between Russia and Ukraine is over – now!” Trump said in a post on his social media platform Truth Social.

A member of NATO, Turkiye has hosted two lectures aimed at maintaining good relations with both Black Sea neighbours since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and ending the war.

“Note that he supports President Trump’s approach to end the war, President Erdogan expressed his gratitude for the efforts he has put into practice to maintain the negotiation process with Iran and to stop the war between Russia and Ukraine,” the Torkiye news agency said in a statement posted to X.

Erdogan also raised the urgent need for a ceasefire in Gaza and warned that the humanitarian crisis had reached “grave level,” the Directorate said.

The Turkish president also emphasized the importance of “an uninterrupted industry of humanitarian aid and an urgent end to this tragic situation.”

In neighbouring Syria, Erdogan reaffirmed Torkier’s commitment to maintaining territorial integrity and restoring permanent stability.

He said the US efforts to ease sanctions against Syria and its new government will help advance the process and contribute to regional peace.

Regarding bilateral ties, Erdogan said Ankara continues to commit to strengthening cooperation in Washington, particularly in defense.

Trump is scheduled to visit Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates next week.
