Best known as an impossible token marketplace, Magic Eden says it has partnered with the team behind President Donald Trump’s meme token to launch the official Trump brand cryptocurrency wallet.
Called Trump Wallet, this product features a presidential name and likeness, supports $Trump trading and other digital assets, including Bitcoin.
A wallet wait list opened on TrumpWallet.com on Tuesday ahead of the planned wider launch this summer, according to a Magic Eden spokesman.
Eric Trump, who has been in leadership roles in some of his father’s crypto ventures, claimed he doesn’t know about the project.
“I’m running @trump, but I know nothing about this project! @worldlibertyfi $trump @americanbtc,” he posted to X.
CNBC contacted Magic Eden to clarify Eric Trump’s denial.
CNBC contacted the $Trump Token team to ask about the terms of the partnership, potential revenue sharing, and whether KYC is needed for the wallet, but did not respond immediately.
Described as “the first and only crypto wallet for true Trump fans,” the project was driven by X with a promise of $1 million in stock with a $1 million Trump reward. Users who sign up and refer their friends can climb the waitlist, Magic Eden said in a statement to CNBC.
The game-imparted promotion is the latest attempt to drive the influx of Trump-related crypto ventures, deepening the president’s growing relationship with the digital asset industry.
The family’s expanding crypto portfolio includes NFT, Stablecoin, a decentralized finance platform already with its own virtual tokens, memecoin named after him and the First Lady, and plans for crypto ETFs through Truthfi, the new financial sector of Truth Social.
Magic Eden, whose CEO took part in the president’s recent fundraiser dinner for the winner of the previous $Trump Coin Contest, appears to be building a wallet on Slingshot Finance, an independent trading app that it acquired in April.
Slingshot’s platform features meme tokens such as Bonk and Fartcoin and does not collect user ID information directly. Instead, the identity check is handled by its Fiat On-Ramp provider, MoonPay.
It remains unclear whether the wallet requires its own KYC procedure or how revenue and liability will be split between Magic Eden and Trump-related entities.
