After deporting foreign passport holders to the infamous Central American prison, the president suggests that American citizens can follow.

The United States wants to begin deporting criminals who keep their US passports in El Salvador, President Donald Trump said.

Trump told reporters he welcomed El Salvador President Naive Bukere to the White House on Monday and wanted to send violent “home criminals” who will be jailed under dealings with the Central American national government.

The comments came amid the ongoing controversy over the illegal deportation of immigrants to the infamous Secott prison in El Salvador.

Trump said he would experience the idea only if he deems legal.

“We have to always follow the law, but there are also homemade criminals who push people into the subway. It’s an absolute monster that hit an old lady behind her head with a baseball bat while not watching,” Trump declared.

“I want to include them in a group of people to get them out of the country, but you have to see the laws about it.”

Trump told reporters last week that after Bukere told reporters his country was open to housing US prisoners, he “loved” the idea.

White House spokesman Karoline Leavitt later confirmed that the proposal was on the table, and Trump said the idea was “simply coming to the table.”

Immigration law expert Professor Erin Corcolan of the University of Notre Dame said that under US law there is “no provision” that “will allow the government to drive citizens out of the country.”

“Build more prisons”

The US leader spoke in a dispute over the deportation of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Salvadora who lives with his family in Maryland and was granted protection from court deportation before being shipped to CECOT in 2019.

The US Supreme Court ordered the Trump administration to promote his return. However, the administration said Garcia’s fate was up to El Salvador and he tried to argue that he was a member of the MS-13 crime gang despite the lack of evidence or conviction.

On Monday, Buquel told Trump he would not return Abrego Garcia or release him in El Salvador. Trump said he is not interested in seeking Abrego Garcia to be released.

“Their own country’s criminals are next,” the US president told Bukere. “I said that homemade is then homemade. You need to build five more places.”
