INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP) — Two women were shot dead and taken to hospital on a Southern California technical college campus Friday, authorities said.
Inglewood Mayor James Butts said the shooting occurred at the Spartan Airlines Technology Campus around 4pm.
Speaking on KABC-TV, Butts said the suspect was still big. Authorities didn’t believe the suspect was still on campus, but according to the mayor, they conducted room searches.
The shooting took place in the school’s office, and officials believe it was a workplace violence incident, according to Butts. The two women are school employees and the suspect is believed to be former employees, he said.
One of the gunshot victims was in danger, he said. The Los Angeles County Fire Department confirmed on social platform X that the two were taken to hospital.
Aviation television video showed the fierce presence of police outside the campus of Inglewood, a city southwest of Los Angeles.
Spartan University of Aviation Technology has campuses all over the country.
According to its website, the Inglewood location houses 500 students and offers a training program focused on aviation maintenance technology.
