Venmo and PayPal users can finally send money to each other

Venmo and PayPal are the two most popular apps for sending money digitally to friends, family, or businesses, and this was never natively compatible. However, according to Benmo, this has changed in November.

“Venmo users and PayPal users can pay each other in the US and around the world,” Venmo wrote in an email to customers. “This means PayPal users can use their phone number to find and pay, and then use their email address later.”

For years, customers have used complex workarounds to transfer money between services. This has long been a problem for users, especially as Venmo is owned by PayPal. Users believe that this kind of feature already exists. (Perhaps integrating the two services will discourage users from creating accounts on both platforms and remove PayPal to enable this feature faster.)

This change means that PayPal users will be able to find Venmo users by entering their phone number. If PayPal users don’t want you to be found, you can update your Venmo app settings by going to Settings > Privacy > Find Me Settings. I’d appreciate it in the long run.

PayPal announced that it would expand its payment system network in July, starting with Venmo, but companies have not previously confirmed the date of the update. The partnership’s collection, which PayPal named PayPal World, will also work with Mercado Pago, NPCI International Payments Limited, and TenPay Global. This helps users send money internationally without barriers or fees.

According to PayPal, Venmo and PayPal have 2 billion global users.
