The Chief Sustainability Office (CSO) of Los Angeles County has released its upcoming draft sustainability plan for 2025. Building on the original 2019 plan, the update reflects the voices of thousands of residents and other stakeholders who participated through community workshops, individual meetings and county-wide surveys. The draft plan advances ambitious goals on climate resilience, equity, biodiversity, housing, and more.
OurCounty outlines what local governments and partners can do to enhance the well-being of all communities in the county, reducing damage to the natural environment and adapting to changing climates, particularly focusing on communities disproportionately borne by environmental pollution. The plan envisages streets and parks that are accessible, safe and welcome to everyone. Clean and healthy air, water and soil. Affordable housing that allows all residents to thrive in place. A community informed and prepared with the infrastructure that supports climate change in climate preparation. And a fair economy running with renewable energy instead of fossil fuels.
Nationals are invited to review and comment on the draft plan until Friday, August 22nd. To help stakeholders better understand the content and how to engage with the plan, the CSO will hold a public webinar on Thursday, August 7th at 10am (register here).
