Kingdom, the pioneering new BBC series led by Sir David Attenborough, is one of the hottest nature releases of 2025 and Live Science has all the TV and streaming details.

How to watch “Kingdom” Quick Guide

► UK: BBC One, BBC iPlayer (from 9 November 2025)

► USA: AMC+ (January 2026)

► Anywhere: Unblock your favorite streaming service with NordVPN’s Black Friday sale

Kingdom is billed as “one of the most ambitious wildlife series ever made” and chronicles four conflicting animal families over five years in Zambia’s South Luangwa National Park.

In a lush corner of the park known as Nsef, the filmmakers tracked a lion pride, a pack of wild dogs, a clan of hyenas and a family of leopards, showcasing the behavior and social dynamics of each group.

Kingdom, narrated by 99-year-old Sir David Attenborough, who led the BBC’s natural history program for decades, will premiere on British screens on November 9. Release in the United States is scheduled for January 2026.

How to watch ‘Kingdom’ in the UK

In the UK, episodes will be broadcast live on television on BBC One, online on BBC iPlayer, and will also be available to watch on demand after their premiere.

“Kingdom” has a Sunday evening primetime slot, with the first episode airing on Nov. 9 at 6:20 p.m. Japan time, with new episodes airing simultaneously on the following five Sundays.

BBC iPlayer is free to use with registration, as long as your TV license is up to date.

Can I watch “Kingdom” in America?

Attenborough fans in the US will have to wait until next year to see “Kingdom,” which will be released on January 24, 2026 on BBC America and AMC+.

Watch “Kingdom” from anywhere

If you’re based in the UK but traveling abroad, you can watch Attenborough’s ‘Kingdom’ from anywhere thanks to a VPN.

A VPN (virtual private network) is a piece of internet security software that allows you to change your device’s digital location and remove geo-restrictions on most streaming platforms.

TechRadar’s expert colleagues rate NordVPN as the best VPN. Not only is it great for unblocking streaming services, but it also has top-level security features, an affordable price, and now a huge discount.

Highlights of “Kingdom”: Synopsis

The BBC said in a statement that the five-year scope of Kingdom was a “first for a natural history program”, with a team of 170 people, including more than 90 Zambian crew members and wildlife experts, spending around 1,400 days in Nsef and filming 76 times.

Executive producer Mike Gunton said in a promotional interview with the BBC: “We shot for five years, which is the longest we’ve ever shot continuously at the same location, which is quite an achievement in itself. Of course there’s a risk in focusing on just one location and putting all your eggs in one basket, but with Kingdom it totally paid off.”

“We spent a lot of time observing and photographing these animals, and we saw some of the most amazing animal behaviors we’ve ever seen on TV, such as wild dogs working together to force the death of a hyena.”

“Kingdom” follows a proud family of lions and leopards, as well as wild dogs and hyenas, and examines how these packs interact as they fight to survive and thrive.

“If I had to choose one word to describe Kingdom, it would be intensity. It’s almost Shakespearean in atmosphere and incredibly ambitious in scale,” Gunton said.

“This is a timeless story, because it focuses on the struggle of four families living in the same place to survive. They have internal conflicts, but they also have conflicts against other rival families. And this creates a really interesting tapestry of rich stories,” he added.

“It’s high drama. There’s a little bit of Game of Thrones, a little bit of Succession, a little bit of The Lion King.”But there’s also a wonderful warmth to Kingdom. “It can be very difficult at times, but there are also some great moments of beauty and kindness,” Gunton said.
