Christopher Nolan’s Oscar-winning biopic Oppenheimer rekindled public interest in historic race to develop atomic weapons.
However, the film resides in J. Robert Oppenheimer’s uneasy conscience and his fear of future nuclear wars, but spoken from his perspective, it does not show the direct consequences of the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. But on the streets of two attacked cities, the horrifying evidence was clear.
The black shadows of bicycle-like humans and objects were found to be scattered across sidewalks and buildings in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, two of Japan’s largest cities, in the wake of the atomic bombs that exploded in each city on August 6th and 9th, 1945, respectively.

It is difficult to speculate that, like the Ashencasts of the victims of ancient volcanoes, these shadows are likely to have encapsulated each of the final moments. But how did these shadows go?
A professor of radiation science at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine, where intense light and heat spread out from the explosion area as each bomb explodes, according to Dr. Michael Hertzhorn, an honorary council member at the Museum of Nuclear Sciences in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The objects and people within that path protected the objects behind them by absorbing light and energy. Ambient light bleached concrete or stone around the “shadows.”

The strong energy released during an atomic explosion is the result of nuclear fission. Nuclear fission occurs when neutrons nucleate heavy atoms, such as isotopic uranium 235 and Plutonium 239, according to the Atomic Heritage Foundation, a nonprofit based in Washington, DC. The initial collision causes a chain reaction that continues until all parent material is exhausted.
