YouTube said Wednesday it will begin redesigning its TV app this summer. On the book, it is easy to navigate, play and fine-tuning quality, and has better access to comments, channel info and subscriptions.
The company did not provide details about the redesign, but asked for a peek into the design assets. We’ll update whether YouTube will return on that aspect.
The company has also announced several other new features in the app.
The company is also soft launching an AI-powered feature called “Ask Music,” which allows you to generate personalized radio stations based on the description of the music you want to hear. Currently, this is an iOS and Android app that is only available to YouTube music subscribers in certain countries from English-speaking YouTube Premium and YouTube Music Subscribers.
Meanwhile, YouTube TV subscribers can now customize what is displayed using the Multiview feature. This allows you to watch up to four streams at the same time. Users can start customizing their multiview feeds on some popular non-sports channels, and they can do that on more channels in the coming months.
MultiView was initially limited to sports content, and later supported some non-sports content, but up until now users could only select from the pre-selected multiview screens selected by YouTube TV.
YouTube Premium also supports 4x playback speeds. For content creators, the company also said it would expand access to the ability for channel owners to reply to comments on their videos using audio notes.
