Kiev summons the Chinese ambassador to “express “serious concerns” towards Chinese citizens over hostilities against Ukraine.

Ukrainian President Voldymi Zelensky allegedly supports drones at its Russian facilities, suggesting that Moscow may have “stolen” drone technology from Beijing.

The Ukrainian leader commented at a press conference in Kiev on Tuesday following the recent capture of two Chinese citizens fighting the Ukrainian army, as China supplies weapons and gunpowder to Russia.

“I asked Ukrainian security services to forward information to China’s side of the broader nature of information about Chinese citizens working in drone factories,” Zelensky told a press conference.

“I believe that what Russia stole was an agreement with these citizens other than an agreement with the Chinese leader. These technologies were stolen,” he said.

“This information also explains the relevant Chinese technologies to tackle these drones. I think it’s important for Beijing to see how their partners work together.”

The Ukrainian president’s proposal that Russia may have obtained drone technology from China without Beijing’s knowledge could indicate a softening of Zelensky’s tone to Chinese people, Reuters said. China has strongly denied Russia’s involvement in the Ukrainian war.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry on Tuesday summoned China’s ambassador Mashenkun to express “serious concern over the fact that Chinese citizens participate in military action against Ukraine.”

Zelensky previously said at least 155 Chinese people were fighting the Russian army. Two of them were recently captured by Ukraine – and said they had “information” that China is supplying arms to Russia.

Ukrainian Deputy Minister Yevhen Perebyinis emphasized the contradictory spirit of Ukraine’s partnership with the participation of Chinese citizens in hostilities against Ukraine on the part of invader states and the involvement of Chinese companies in the production of Russian military products.

“These evidence of these facts was handed over to the Chinese side by Ukraine’s special service,” the ministry said.

The deputy minister asked China to take steps to stop Russia’s support in the repeatedly stated invasion of Ukraine by Beijing,” the ministry added.

China stubbornly refused to provide weapons last week.

“China has never provided deadly weapons to any party in the conflict and has strict control over double use items,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jiang said Friday.

They did not immediately comment on the latest Ukrainian statement from Russia or China.
