Since Israel’s West Bank operation began, tens of thousands of Palestinians have fled their homes.
Israeli forces have killed at least four Palestinians on the occupied West Bank, including a 60-year-old woman, Palestinian authorities say.
Israeli forces said in a statement that police special forces were barricaded at Jenin’s house on Tuesday, fighting an armed Palestinian who killed two people and wounded another man.
He said a man was killed when he fired a fire on an Israeli soldier in another incident Tuesday.
The PA said the soldier who fired from the checkpoint killed the 60-year-old woman. There were no immediate comments from the Israeli military.
The previous night, a Palestinian man was killed when Palestinians were attacked by Israeli army vehicles, the PA said.
Another man wanted in the previous incident was killed by Palestinian security forces, the PA said in a separate statement.
The man said he was accused of launching a fire at the headquarters of Jenin’s security forces.
The latest incident has resulted in the number of Palestinians killed since January, when Israeli forces launched a massive operation involving thousands of soldiers from cities and refugee camps on the northwest coast, with more than 30 people.
Tens of thousands of Palestinians have fled their homes since surgery began at the start of the ceasefire in Gaza.
Israeli forces have passed through refugee camps in Jenin and nearby cities, destroying homes and infrastructure, including roads and water pipes.
Countries including France and Germany, as well as international groups including the UN, have expressed vigilance and sought restraint on the scale of Israeli operations in the West Bank.
Israel has repeatedly stated that its aim is to attack armed groups, including Hamas and Palestinian Islamic jihad. This set up bases in crowded refugee camps built to house the Palestinians when Israel was created and housed their descendants.
The Israeli Army added in a statement Tuesday that the troops arrested 35 people on the West Bank overnight, with weapons confiscated during the operation.
One suspect who was detained said he led the soldiers to an area where the explosive device was planted without designating the location, saying the device was neutralised.
On the southwest coast, Israeli settlers attacked the village of Haribat al-Navi in Masafa Yatta, south of Hebron, attacking the residents and their property, Palestinian news agency WAFA reported.
Settlers armed with clubs and batons attacked the village under Israeli military protection. Resident Mutab Rashid was beaten and sprayed with pepper gas on Ali Saba Rashid and his wife, WAFA reported. Israeli soldiers arrested another resident identified by the WAFA as Ahmad Abdul Mohsen Rashid.
