Israel launched waves of airstrikes throughout the Gaza Strip with its heaviest attack since the January ceasefire.
Israel launched a massive attack on Gaza, killing at least 342 Palestinians, shattering a fragile two-month ceasefire with Hamas.
The shocking attacks shattered a relatively mild period during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, causing widespread destruction throughout Gaza, increasing the chances of a complete return to the battle in the 17-month war that killed more than 48,000 Palestinians.
Here’s what all sides say about the Israeli attack:
Hamas
Hamas has called on people all over the world to “speak up by refusing to resume the extinction Zionist war against our people in the Gaza Strip.” The group also said Israel is “fully responsible for violating and overturning the agreement.”
“Netanyahu and his Nazi government will resume the war of aggression and genocide against vulnerable civilians in the Gaza Strip,” the statement said in the statement. “We are fully responsible for the occupation of detective Netanyahu and Nazi Zionists, to the effects of the dangerous attacks on Gaza, as well as to the vulnerable civilians and our besieged Palestinians.
“Netanyahu and his militant government have made the decision to overturn the ceasefire agreement and expose Gaza prisoners to unknown fate.”
Palestinian Islamic Jihad
Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) says Israel is continuing its “war of extinction” in Gaza after “deliberately sabotaging any effort to reach a ceasefire,” according to a statement shared by Israeli media outlet Haretz.
The PIJ said the updated attacks by Netanyahu and his “bloodthirsty Nazi government” would “give Israel no superiority over resistance, either on earth or in negotiations.”
“We assert that Netanyahu and his wild bar forces were unable to achieve in 15 months of crime and bloodshed. Thanks to the courage of the Mujahideen in the field of immobility and resistance of the oppressed people, they will not succeed in achieving them again.”
Israel
Israeli officials say the latest attack on Gaza could be freely escalated.
“Israel will now act against Hamas while increasing its military strength,” said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Hamas claimed that he “repeated repeated refusal to release our hostages and rejected all offers he received from the US President’s envoy, Steve Witkoff, and mediators.”
“Netanyahu and Israeli Defense Minister Katz have instructed the IDF to take strong action against Hamastero organisations in the Gaza Strip,” the statement said. “At this point, the IDF is attacking targets of Hamastero organisations throughout the Gaza Strip to achieve the war objectives determined by political echelons, including hostages, livelihoods and all liberation of the deceased.
“Israel will now act against Hamas, increasing its military strength.”
In a statement, the government media office in Gaza said Israel’s latest attacks “measures a blatant violation of all international and humanitarian treaties, and Israel’s occupation continues the genocide as part of the ongoing genocide against the Palestinians and ignores the ceasefire agreement.”
“Most of these martyrs and missing people are victims of genocide crimes targeting women, children, elderly people, humanity, land and Palestinian history,” he added.
“These brutal massacres carried out by Israeli occupation forces reaffirm that this occupation only understands the language of murder, destruction and genocide.”
