Olympia’s event business holds gold certification from Green Tourism, a globally recognized accreditation body that certifies high standards of sustainability.
The award reinforces the credibility of Olympia’s dedicated sustainability program, the Grand Plan, and confirms its commitment to people, places and the planet by having claims certified by independent third-party auditors.
After a rigorous assessment process, Olympia’s sustainability practices and initiatives were assessed against a comprehensive set of criteria that consider the overall business approach to ESG (environmental social governance).
This includes industry-recognized standards and practices, a continuous commitment to working responsibly, ethically and sustainably, serving the community, reducing environmental impacts, and promoting a diverse, equal and inclusive environment for all visitors and staff.
Commenting on the results, Cyan Richards, director of sustainability at Olympia’s events, said: “We are delighted to maintain our valuation of another year of gold and share this success with other industries. With our continued commitment to reducing our environmental footprint and supporting our local community, it is fantastic to strengthen our status as a sustainability event.”
This is the highest level that Olympia, who has been in her fifth year, holds a gold rating, and the organization can achieve as a member of Green Tourism.
