ATLANTA (AP) – Most state students will pay roughly the same for attending public universities and universities in Georgia between 2025 and 2026.

Regent voted on Tuesday to maintain cost levels at 18 of the system’s 26 schools, but costs will rise in six schools and fall in two other schools.

A typical Georgia school will charge $6,466 for tuition and mandatory fees for next semester next year.

Tuition and Fees It ranges from $3,506 at Swainsboro-based East Georgia State University to $12,002 at Georgia Tech in Atlanta.

The biggest changes will be made at Albany State University and North Georgia University. Both institutions are beginning to raise lower fees charged for two-year associate degrees to match the rates they charge for four-year degrees.

Costs also rise slightly at Clayton State, Dalton State, Fort Valley State and Georgia University.

Typical in-state students continue to pay less than they did in 2022. After that year, Regent eliminated the fee It was charged in addition to tuition fees, reducing costs at almost every institution.

However, students from outside of Georgia are costly. Tuition fees for students in other states will increase by 2%, while tuition fees for students overseas will increase by 3%. These students pay tuition fees three times more than what students in the state pay. Agency may waive out-of-state claims.

“The priority of the system for graduating more students is that more students, affordability and efficiency is always at the forefront when setting tuition fees,” Chief Financial Officer Tracy Cook told Regent at a conference at Georgia Southern University in Stateboro. “The actions of the board over the past few years have certainly strengthened this commitment to affordability.”

Regents generally have Tuition fees were kept flat Seven years out of the past 10 years. Typical tuition and handling fees in Georgia are lower than all but two states in the 16 regions covered by the Southern Regional Education Board.

For students receiving a lottery-funded scholarship, the scholarship pays tuition fees. However, students and their families must pay the required fees themselves. While many Georgia students receive other types of financial aid, the U.S. Department of Education figures show the average Department of Education figures that graduated over $20,000 to earn a four-year degree in the 2020-2021 academic year.

The state will fund nearly $3.6 billion of the system’s roughly $9 billion budget annually starting July 1st. Lawmakers have increased the university’s state funding by $211 million (6.2%) under the budget awaiting Brian Kemp’s signature.
