Gemini, Google’s AI-driven chatbot, can now connect to GitHub. This is because Gemini Advanced Plan, which costs $20 per month, or users subscribe.

As of Wednesday, Gemini Advanced customers can add a Public or Private Codebase to Github directly to Gemini, allowing chatbots to generate and explain code, debug existing code, and more. Users can connect GitHub to Github by clicking the “+” button on the prompt bar to “import code” and pasting the GitHub URL.

Gemini Advanced now connects to @github and is now a more powerful coding assistant.

Connect directly to a public or private github repository to generate/modify features, explain complex code, ask questions about codebase, debugging, and more.

Warning Word: AI models, including Google’s models, have a hard time coding quality software. Code generation AI tends to introduce security vulnerabilities and errors due to weaknesses in areas such as the ability to understand programming logic. One recent review of Devin, a popular AI coding tool, discovered that he could complete only three of the 20 programming tests.

The new GitHub integration arrives just days after Openai launched the GitHub connector for ChatGPT Deep Research. This is a tool that allows you to search the web and other sources and compile in-depth research reports on topics. AI companies, including Google and Openai, are moving rapidly to quickly ship new features to highlight their products in increasingly crowded areas.

If appropriate, Openai brought SharePoint and Microsoft OneDrive connectors to ChatGpt Deep Research on Tuesday.
