Israeli forces have killed hundreds of Palestinians in order to spread ground invasions over the past few days.
Israeli forces unleashed waves of air throughout the Gaza Strip early on Sunday, killing at least 125 Palestinians, including children sleeping in tents.
At least 36 people have been killed and more than 100 have been injured after Israeli fighter bombed a tent camp protecting evacuated Palestinians in the Al Mawasi region of Khan Yunis in southern Gaza, medical sources told Al Jazeera.
A horrifying, verified video from the scene showed many bodies, including some fire. The dead and injured were taken to nearby field hospitals and Nasser Medical Facilities.
Medical sources say at least 125 people were killed Sunday morning, with 42 in Gaza’s heavily burning north. Three journalists were also among the victims.
The death toll has risen sharply in the past four days as Israeli forces prepare to significantly intensify ground invasions of Palestinian territory despite international criticism.
Hamas said early on Sunday that Khan Eunice’s attacks on displaced people marked “brutal crimes,” a serious violation of international law and norms.
“By granting the government’s political and military cover of the terrorist occupation government, the US administration is directly responsible for this insane escalation in targeting innocent civilians in the Gaza Strip, including children, women and senior citizens,” the Palestinian group said.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has condemned Israel’s expansion operations in Gaza. “I am wary of reported plans by Israel to expand such as ground operations.”

On Saturday, Israel and Hamas confirmed that more mediated consultations were ongoing in Qatar.
Israel emphasized that consultations are taking place without conditions, including the entry of humanitarian assistance to Gaza, which has been completely blocked since March 2 despite looming hunger.
Israeli far-right national security minister Itamar Ben Gwil called on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday to pull the negotiation team back from Doha’s discussions and refrain from closing his contract with Hamas.
Israeli forces have also systematically targeted hospitals across the enclave, repealing a committee that includes two hospitals last week.
Gaza’s health ministry announced in a statement on Sunday that Israeli forces have been besieged by Indonesian hospitals in northern Gaza since dawn.
This means that as a result of the attack, “a state of panic and confusion is prioritized among patients, injured and medical staff,” adding that it is hindering medical care that is still available with very limited resources.
