Amazon is testing a summary of shorter format AI-powered audio products on some product pages, the company announced Wednesday. The audio summary is expressed by what Amazon calls “AI-powered shopping experts.”
A summary of the new AI product can be accessed by tapping the “Listen to Highlights” button on the Amazon Shopping app. Amazon tests the features of products that you should consider before purchasing, the company says.
The idea behind this feature is to help Amazon customers save time while shopping and get important information through a conversational discussion style format.
“This feature makes product research fun and useful. It’s something that helps you discuss potential purchases to make shopping easier, even when multitasking or on the go,” the company wrote in a blog post.

The summary is currently available for select products to select US customers. Amazon plans to deploy features to more products in the coming months and to additional US customers.
The company explains that this feature uses a large-scale language model (LLMS) to generate scripts by drawing from customer reviews and information from the web, converting this content into short form audio clips.
According to Amazon, the new feature will be participating in the current suite of AI-powered shopping features, including current AI shopping assistant Rufus and the AI features of interest.
Amazon is not the only high-tech giant that leverages short forms of AI-powered audio that helps users get information in a fast and efficient way. Last year, Google’s NoteBookLM unveiled an audio overview. This is a feature that provides users with the ability to generate podcasts using AI virtual hosts based on documents shared with AI research assistants, such as course reading and legal briefs.
