A total of 79 people were injured after the car drove into the crowd after the Liverpool Football Club trophy parade.

The former British Marine appeared in court accused of driving a vehicle by a crowd of people celebrating Liverpool Football Club’s Premier League title victory.

According to British media reports, Paul Doyle made a brief appearance at Liverpool Magistrates Court on Friday morning, where he read personal details.

Doyle, 53, faces seven charges, including causing dangerous driving and serious physical harm with intent. This marks the Darkford Galaxy’s biggest life sentence if convicted after running into supporters of Liverpool’s football clubs, and will be celebrating the Premier League by participating in a City Centre parade.

A total of 79 people, ages 9-78, were injured in the incident and no deaths were reported.

Assistant Merseyside Police Assistant Officer Jenny Sims told reporters Thursday that seven people remained in the hospital.

Local reports say Doyle lives outside of Liverpool and is a businessman with three teenagers.

The charges followed what Crown Prosecutor’s Office’s Sarah Hammond described as a “complex and continuous investigation.”

“Prosecutors and police continue to work at a pace to review the vast amount of evidence,” she said.

“This includes multiple video footage and numerous witness statements. It is important to ensure that all victims get the justice they deserve,” she added.

Shortly after the incident, Merseyside police quickly ruled out the possibility of terrorism as the reason behind the crash, revealing that the suspect is a white British in a move to stop the spread of misinformation online.

Misinformation circulated online about the attacker who killed three girls in the Southport area last year has led to anti-immigrant and Islamophobic riots in parts of the UK.
