The European country is chosen between conservative historian Karol Naulocky and Pro Eu Warsaw Mayor Rafal Truzaskovsky.

Poles are voting on a decisive presidential outflow that could have a major impact on the country’s future role in the European Union.

The polling begins at local time (05:00 GMT) and is supported by Warsaw Prime Minister Rafal Truzaskowski by Right-wing Law and Justice (PIS) from the central citizens platform of the Civic Union, which competes against right-wing historian Karol Nowrocky.

Interactive Polish elections will enter June 1-2025 -1748760509 from the second round
(Al Jazeera)

The spill followed the heavily contested first round on May 18th, with Trzaskowski winning just over 31%, while Nawrocki winning nearly 30%, eliminating 11 other candidates.

The winner will replace Andrze Duda, a retired nationalist conservative president who accused Prime Minister Donald Tass of using his veto of the centralist government to maintain judicial reform.

The campaign highlights stark ideological disparities, and the results are expected to determine whether Poland continues along the nationalist path or is more critical towards liberal democratic norms.

Trzaskowski, the 53-year-old son of a well-known jazz musician, has committed to restoring judicial independence, eases abortion restrictions and fostering constructive relationships with European partners.

Now Rocky, a 42-year-old former boxer, is supported by US President Donald Trump, and has established himself as a defender of traditional Polish values and is skeptical of the EU.

Amid growing fears of security over the Ukrainian war with Russia, Nau Rocky has opposed NATO membership in neighboring Ukraine, but both candidates support Kiev’s assistance.

The two candidates use anti-Uraine rhetoric to adopt an equally hard-pressed approach to immigration, based on Paul’s growth, which views himself as competing for tense social services between 1.55 million Ukrainian war refugees and migrants.

Trzaskowski suggests that only working Ukrainians should have access to the interests of the country’s children, but Nawrocki is going further and says he is against joining Ukraine in NATO and the EU.

If exit voting is expected, the vote will close at 9pm (7:00 GMT). The final results may be announced on Monday.
