Welcome back to review week! There were a lot of reasons why Windsurf lost access to Claude, new features in ChatGpt, WWDC 2025, Elon Musk’s fight against Donald Trump, and more. Have a great weekend!

In an interview at Duh: TC Session: AI 2025, the co-founder of Anthropic gave a completely reasonable explanation of why they would reduce access to Windsurf. It seems to me that’s a good reason!

Everything is the same. Last week, Chinese lab Deepseek released an updated version of its R1 Reasoning AI model. This works well with many mathematics and coding benchmarks. Currently, some AI researchers speculate that at least some of the source data it trained came from Google’s Gemini family of AI.

WWDC 2025: Apple’s annual developer meeting begins on Monday. Beyond the newly designed operating system, we hope to see it at this year’s events, including dedicated gaming apps and updates for Mac, Watch, TV and more.

This is TechCrunch review week, summarizing the biggest news of the week. Want to deliver this to your inbox as a newsletter every Saturday? Sign up here.

Frontline Business: ChatGPT is gaining new features for business users, including connectors for Dropbox, Box, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Google Drive. This allows ChatGpt to search for information and answer questions across your own services.

Ah, Indian grocery delivery startup Kiranapro has been hacked and all that data has been wiped out. The company says it has 55,000 customers, between 30,000 and 35,000 active buyers in 50 cities, collecting 2,000 orders every day.

Artistic people are delighted! Photoshop is currently coming to Android, so users of Google’s operating system can also pack images. This app has similar editing tools to the desktop version, such as layering and masking.

Let’s try again. Tesla has submitted a new trademark application for “Tesla Robotaxi.” This has previously attempted to register a trademark after failing the terms “Robotaxi” and “Cybercab.”

Fabric Rolling: High-tech startup Andrill has received a $1 billion investment as part of a new $2.5 billion salary increase led by Founders Fund.

On the road again: When Toma founders noticed that the car dealer was drowning with a missed call, they hit the road to see the problem firsthand. That summer road trip turned to $17 million A16Z-backed funding that helps Toma bring AI phone agents to more than 100 dealers across the US.

Fighting Season: All gloves were off Thursday as Elon Musk and President Trump go to their respective social networks and throw jabs at each other. While it may be exciting to see rich men compete in public, the fallout between the world’s wealthiest person and the sitting US president promises to have a broader impact on the tech industry.

Money Talk: Whether you use AI as a friend, therapist or even a girlfriend, chatbots are trained to keep you talking. For large tech companies, it is more competitive than ever to keep users there, and not as competitive as ever, to attract users to the chatbot platform.
