John Schulman, co-founder of Openai, who resigned from AI startup Human last week just five months later, is reportedly joining former Openai CTO Mira Murati’s secret new startup, Per Fortune.

It is not clear what Schulman’s role will be. Fortune can’t learn the information, and Murati has been keeping a tight mouth about the venture since leaving Openai in September. However, a source has revealed to Fortune that Murati has recruited additional former Operating staff, including Christian Gibson, who worked for the open supercomputing team.

I confirmed that I left humanity last week. It wasn’t easy to leave because I enjoyed the kind and talented people who worked with an exciting research environment, but I decided to go to another time I found very persuasive. I did. I’ll share the details on…

Murati reportedly was in talks to raise more than $100 million for her company in October.

Celebrated as one of ChatGpt’s leading architects, Shulman left Openai for humanity last August. He posted on the decision to X, saying that he was engaged in more practical technical work, arising from the desire to focus on AI integrity, the science that ensures that it behaves as intended.
