Prime Minister Anthony Albanese says attacks on people based on their faith are “condemnation.”

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese rejected the proposal that his government was too late to condemn Islamophobia after the attacks by two Muslim women at a shopping centre in Melbourne.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Albanese said attacks on people based on their religion were “condemnation.”

“I am under all the attacks on people based on their faith seriously. They should all face the full power of the law,” he said.

“We have appointed a special envoy on Islamophobia, which is an important step. And I am someone who celebrates our diversity and respects people regardless of their faith.”

Albanese made the comment after Muslim Australians, including international cricketer Usman Kawaja, accused the government of not enough to combat Islamophobia.

Kawaja, the first Muslim to play Test cricket in Australia on Tuesday, said that alleged attacks were not mentioned by Albanese and opposition leader Peter Dutton, “under the rug, like all attacks on the Muslim community. will be wiped out by the

Khawaja said Wednesday that he is grateful to Albanese and Dutton for branding the brand this week to attack “stigma” for “speaking.”

One of the suspects, Ealaf Al-Esawie, told local media that the attacker slammed her into the face and chest before shoving her onto the floor.

“I feel terrified and traumatized, and yet I still can’t believe what happened to me,” Al Eisawy was quoted as saying by the Associated Press in Australia.

“The scene doesn’t come out of my head. It keeps repeating itself in my mind – the way I was attacked.

“I’m not a home body, but since Thursday I’ve been stuck in front of four walls and it’s like every crack I’ve heard from the house, ‘Oh, what a goddamn, someone’s coming.’ ”

Melbourne police said they arrested the 31-year-old woman on Wednesday and charged her with an assault on February 13th that she suspected of having Islamophobia.

“Police will claim that the victim was targeted because he was wearing a head cover,” a Victoria Police spokesperson said in a statement.

“There is absolutely no place in a society for discriminatory, racist or hate-based behavior. Such activities are not tolerated,” the statement said.

Advocacy groups reported a sharp rise in Islamophobia and anti-Semitism incidents in Australia when Hamas launched a multifaceted attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, which subsequently led to the war in Gaza. I’ve reported it.
