For more than a month, Israeli forces, supported by bulldozers, have been raiding Palestinian homes and destroying critical infrastructure.

Israel says it is expanding its military attacks across the occupied West Bank, with the troops preparing to stay in some refugee camps “the next year.”

On Sunday, Israeli Defense Minister Katz said the Army was ordered to “evacuate” three refugee camps on the West Bank and stay there. [Palestinian] residents”.

“So far, 40,000 Palestinians have evacuated from refugee camps in Jenin, Talcarem and Nur Sham.

“I gave instructions [soldiers] “To prepare for the long-term presence in sunny camps for the following year, to prevent residents from returning and reviving terrorism,” he added.

For more than a month, Israeli forces have been raiding Palestinian homes and using bulldozers to destroy critical infrastructure. The attacks have focused primarily on Jenin and Talcarem.

The Israeli Army said that tanks were deployed to Jenin for the first time on the West Bank since the end of the second Intifada or uprising in 2005.

Nabil Abu Rudain, a spokesman for Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, denounced the decision to deploy the tanks on the northwest shore.

“This is a dangerous Israeli escalation that does not lead to stability or restlessness and warns of this dangerous escalation,” he said.

Since January 19, when the ceasefire in Hamas in Israel took effect in the Gaza Strip, Jenin and its adjacent refugee camps have been under Israeli siege, with at least 27 Palestinians being killed there.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has instructed the troops to carry out a “intensive” operation on the West Bank after the blast Thursday on an empty bus near Tel Aviv, which Netanyahu’s office described as an attempt at a mass attack.

No casualties have been reported in the explosion, and no group has claimed responsibility.

Meanwhile, Palestinian news agency WAFA reported that Israeli forces and settlers attacks continued throughout the West Bank on Sunday.

In Nablus, at least eight people were arrested during the Israeli raid, while two others were detained in Beit Hanina, a neighbourhood in northeast Jerusalem.

Israeli bulldozers also destroyed electric and water lines in the town of Kabatya, south of Jenin, and Israeli soldiers once again established military checkpoints at the entrance to Al Isawiya, another neighbour in Jerusalem, in the east. He added.

Israel has killed more than 800 Palestinians in the West Bank since the war exploded in Gaza on October 7, 2023.
