Belfry Hotel & Resort in West Midlands has achieved EarthCheck Benchmark Bronze Status, demonstrating its commitment to leading the industry in climate action and providing a sustainable travel experience for its guests.
Accredited judges showing their dedication to business sustainability pathways underscored the Bell Tower’s commitment to maintaining and strengthening the natural environment, cultural heritage, community and economy.
Belfry has introduced initiatives to reduce carbon footprint, including installing new kitchen equipment that filters and reuses cooking oil, and saving 480 liters per month. Implementation of a new waste management system that has separated 18.32 tons of dry mixing recycling since July. They wear a waterless urinal and save an estimated 900,000 liters of water each year.
The broader ESG (environmental, social and governance) measures include teen cancer trust, motor neuron disease (MND) related and hospitality action last year, raising more than £20,000 for Springboard acquisition This includes introducing and donating hospitality careers to 120 children a day. In 2025, Belfry plans to increase the number of electric vehicle chargers, install solar panels and complete work on the new Waste2water treatment plant.
It aims to achieve Breeam Excellence’s reputation in building flagship event spaces and new leisure clubs. All funds raised from the resort’s first Belfry Classic Golf Day in May will also be directed to support the MND Association and Hospitality Action.
