Live Recruitment has released its 2025 Diversity Report. This provides overall insight into diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) in the UK event industry.

This report provides a valuable snapshot of DEI in the UK events industry. This is the largest kind in the history of this sector, allowing companies to benchmark themselves for both the broader sector and the specific niche within it.

The report also categorizes the diversity of various sectors in the event industry, including the association, event supplier sector, event, production and experience institution sectors.

So, how diverse are the sectors of events, production and experience institutions?

sex:

Data show that the sectors in event, production and experiential institutions are primarily female (67.3%), with only 32.7% of the sector being male.

Nevertheless, the average salary for the male group in the sector is significantly higher than the average salary for the female group. The average salary for the male group is £46,414, while the average salary for women in the sector is £40, £256.

Regarding seniority, the data show that the proportion of the female group was higher for all three seniority levels (junior, middle, and senior) than for the male group. However, as seniority increases, the proportion of the male group increases.

Ethnicity:

Data show that the white/white group accounts for almost 80% of the workforce in this
Sectorally and ethnically diverse groups account for only 20.3% of the sector.

Data also show that the average salary for the white/white group is higher
Approximately £3,500 compared to the salary of ethnically diverse groups.

When this was broken down by gender, the data show that the average salary gap between the White/White women group and the ethnically diverse group of women exceeds £2,500.

year:

Data show that the 32-45 age brackets are the largest group, accounting for more than half of the total.
Workforce in this sector. This is the same for both male and female groups.

Only 24.9% of the sector consists of age groups 18-31, which shrinks even further when looking at age groups 46-59.

The group over 60 years old makes up only 1.9% of the sector’s workforce. However, the proportion of event experts of more than 60 people in the male group is almost three times that of the female group of more than 60 people.
