International Confex is more than just a conference or exhibition. This is where the event industry comes to learn, adapt, empower and give back to the community. International Confex is more than an event. It’s a family reunion and is calling you home.
The legacy of production
In the mid- to late 1990s, International evolved under Brian Wiseman’s stewardship, followed by figures from major industry figures such as Duncan Reed, Johnny Sullence, James Samuel and Jessica Blue. Under a variety of owners, including UBM, these leaders played a pivotal role in shaping what has become one of the most important events in the industry. The show eventually moved to ownership of Mash Media in 2013, with its innovation and industry continuing to influence legacy. Julian Agostini, owner of Mash Media and International Confex, said:
No matter who is at the helm, the show is always bustling with energy. A room full of endless possibilities for your event is where you find everything you need, revealing things you never realised that you wanted or even existed. What makes International Confex unique is that the industry itself leads it. When everyone comes together and collaborates, the show becomes more than just an event. This will symbolize the strength and innovation of the industry. Like a great library of telling the story of the old, Confex brings together everything event experts need to innovate, grow and shape the future of the industry.
First and foremost, as a community, Mash Media has not been struggling with the difficulties of Covid-19. They hosted their final show before the lockdown began, and the first one after it ended, portraying the strength of unity as a community and acting as a pillar of the events industry. Donations and receiving to the industry is the heartbeat of the event, and that’s what makes the sector so special. Agostini said: “Performing the first post-Covid event was important to me, even knowing there were low attendance.”

The right place, the right time
On February 26th and 27th, International Confex will take over the halls of Excel London, hosting over 500 exhibitors and welcome thousands of participants. It’s a lot of influential people in one place. Something or someone is looking for the next big idea. For anyone in the events industry, this is a place you can’t miss.
Richard Armitage, director of Expoplatform Ltd. and a longtime attendee of the show, discusses the importance of the show. “Shows are extremely important to the industry. Confex is where contractors, organizers and venues cooperate with networks, showcases and learning. This champion’s in-person marketing-like exhibitions are today’s digital world. But it’s important.”
Gina Kay, Marketing Manager at International Confex, began her journey to events as a student volunteer. Sharing the importance of the show with young experts, she said: “Confex is invaluable for students and young professionals. It’s the baptism of fire – the best way! Students can gain practical experience, create industry connections, and the scope and possibilities of the event industry. You can truly feel that way. For example, I volunteered as a student and later found my footing in the industry through those connections.”
She adds: “Shows are literally the definition of the right place and the right timing. If you’re a student, you can come on the second day, there are mentoring sessions, panels, content specifically for students, and employers will be able to do so. I’ll make sure I’ll go to the session too.”

It’s essential for the venue
Venues could be a make-up or break option for any event organizer. In 2016, Confex moved from Olympia to Excel London and has been thriving ever since. “We’ve been working hard to get the most out of our business,” said Jack Newey, chief commercial director at Mash Media. The team there has been a great collaboration between the industry and the event itself. Their commitment to driving attendees and playing an active role in the show made a huge difference. They also contribute significantly to the marketing of events. This was a huge advantage. ”
Regarding the benefits of venues attending the show, Richard Armitage said: It’s an opportunity to showcase the facility, attract organizers and establish relationships. For organizers, especially those new to the industry, seeing the venue in person, rather than advertising or online, is invaluable. Confex also helps smaller local venues compete with larger players. ”
Agostini will add hints for venues to be exhibited at International Confex. “My advice is simple at venues considering exhibits. With 5,000 event planners in one place, there’s no reason not to be part of it. If you don’t know the value of being there, you is in the wrong job.”
It’s full of vibrant energy for the next few years

Today, International Confex has evolved into a dynamic hub for the event industry. As it grows every year, we continue to introduce innovative ideas and trends to help our businesses and events thrive to meet the needs of our attendees. But confex won’t stop there. There is no constant need to do, give, and explore.
Agostini said: “Every year we showcase new initiatives. Technology has changed the landscape of the exhibition, especially with pre-determined meetings. I don’t believe them, so I don’t have a hosted buyer program. Hmm. I’ve never seen solid data prove their value. For me, they feel transactional, like forced interactions, rather than genuine business relationships. However, Tech Pre-placed meetings using the company revolutionized the exhibition and embraced it. Confex continues to push boundaries and introduce new ideas to keep it relevant. The UK’s most powerful show It remains. If you’re in the events industry, you need to be there.”
I will be sincerely invited to the 43rd edition of Excel London International Confex from February 26th to 27th, 2025.
We can’t wait to welcome you.
