According to THE VERGE, Waymo will start testing automatic driving cars in 10 new cities this year, starting with Las Vegas and San Diego this year. However, this does not mean that the company starts commercial management in any of these cities, and does not even test in autonomous mode. Waymo said to VERGE, which sends less than 10 AV to each city, it will be manually operated.
The news will be held a few hours before Tesla’s 4th quarter of the 2024 revenue call, and investors will hear the latest information on automakers Robotaxi and autonomous driving initiative.
Waymo has already operated a commercial robot pork service in three cities, Phoenix, San Francisco, and Los Angeles, and plans to launch this year in Austin, Atlanta and Miami.
Alphabet -owned companies have not confirmed whether to start Robotaxi services in any of the cities to be tested this year. Usually, Waymo sends a limited human -led fleet, tests a wide range of cities and driving conditions, and understands how the system adapts to a new environment.
In 2024, Waymo tested vehicles in Michigan and northern New York and tried technology in a harsher winter situation.
