Manchester Central has appointed Stephanie Newton as new commercial director and joined the business in June, bringing over 20 years of experience in the events and hospitality industry.

In his recent role as Head of Business Tourism in Manchester Marketing, Newton played a pivotal role in shaping the city’s business tourism strategy, helping to position Manchester as one of the main destinations for international conferences and events.

Before joining Marketing Manchester, Newton worked for 23 years at international hotel chains such as Marriott International, Radisson SAS and Mercure, specializing in the meeting, visit and event sectors.

In her new role, Newton will lead Manchester Central’s commercial strategy and focus on attracting global events tailored to the strengths of Manchester’s industry, further strengthening the venue’s contribution to the city’s vibrant and growing economy.

The appointment follows an increasingly joint relationship between Manchester Central and Manchester marketing, tied to the vision of the first approach at CEO Lori Hoynkez’s destination, putting Manchester in the global event stage.

“We’re looking forward to seeing you in the future,” said CEO of Manchester Central, Lori Hoinkes. “Manchester Central is currently experiencing record demand that gives Manchester the opportunity to grow their business in a way that has the greatest value and impact, so our future commercial strategy aims to help our customers benefit from the city as smart as possible.

As a leading venue in the events industry nationwide and internationally, Manchester Central welcomes around 500,000 visitors each year and donates around £130 million to the local economy.
