The Microsoft Build 2025 conference in Seattle has entered its second day, with CEO Satya Nadella wasted no time laying out what was the company’s boldest vision: Open Agent Web.

Clearly, Microsoft is betting on a future where AI agents are not only supporting them, but also working together. It not only proposes code, but also draws AI that builds and unfolds it. AI is not just about analyzing data, but takes action on your behalf. These agents are not intended to be silent assistants in the background. They are active participants in the work itself.

Microsoft Build 2025 Keynote: Satya Nadella makes a big bet on the open agent web

The three-day event, which ran from May 19th to 21st, was not without drama. Nadella’s keynote speech was temporarily suspended due to pro-Palestinian protests, but the show continued with over 50 new announcements centered around AI.

Github Copilot has been leveled up. It was once a useful autocomplete tool, but is now being promoted as a full-fledged coding agent. Meanwhile, Azure AI Foundry is being boosted by integrating Elon Musk’s Xai Grok model by signaling Microsoft’s ongoing efforts to implement external talent and technology.

One of the more interesting parts of the keynotes focuses on interoperability. Nadella has introduced the Model Context Protocol (MCP). This helps AI systems work together across the platform. He also pointed to open source projects like NLWEB as part of a larger plan to provide developers with more flexibility and freedom to build with AI, regardless of stack.

Microsoft says this isn’t just about convenience. It’s about unlocking a new kind of job. AI agents are positioned as the core of how people write code, manage documents, collaborate with teams, and even tackle larger research challenges. For example, Microsoft Discovery is a new platform aimed at using these AI agents to help researchers work faster and smarter.

In short, Microsoft wants to move away from solidly packaged, one-size apps and open the door to modular, AI-driven systems that can be mixed, matched and scaled. Message to developers? This is your playground now.

Microsoft Build 2025 Highlights:

Open Agent Web: A new framework for building AI agents that can work independently while working with people.

Upgrade Github Copilot: It’s more than just a code suggestion. Copilot has become a full coding assistant that allows you to manage tasks end-to-end.

Xai’s Grok joins Azure. Microsoft welcomes Elon Musk’s Grok model to the Azure AI Foundry Ecosystem.

Model Context Protocol (MCP): A new interoperability standard that allows AI agents to interact seamlessly between tools and environments.

NLWEB: An open source initiative for developers building AI-Native Web Experience.

Microsoft Discovery: A new research platform equipped with AI agents to accelerate scientific discovery.

Nadella’s message was clear. AI is no longer just a feature, it’s the heart of what’s coming next. And Microsoft is putting itself in order to lead that shift.

His keynote marked a pivot away from the old models of siloed all-in-one apps, instead pushing an open, scalable web built on autonomous AI agents. Here’s a summary of everything announced at Build 2025, from developer tools to enterprise-grade platforms.

So here’s all the summary published on the second day of Build 2025:
