Brandon Moreno defeats Steve Elseg by unanimous decision in the main event flyweight title eliminator match in Mexico City.

Former two-time flyweight champion Brandon Moreno wiped out stigma from his final ultimate fighting championship Mexico outing, winning a unanimous decision against Steve Elsegg in the flyweight title eliminator match in the UFC Fight Night Main Event, cleaning up 49-46 with former flyweight title Kaite on cards 49-46, 49-46.

Saturday’s fight was closely competitive, but Moreno won all but three rounds (3 rounds 3) as the 31-year-old continued the fight and Elseg came to him during the match.

Moreno never approached securing a finish against his opponent, but he attacked his opponent 82-67 completely to keep Australian-born Elsegg unshakable by his hometown favourites.

After the war, Moreno called UFC Chief Business Officer Hunter Campbell on guidance for his next fight. Moreno explicitly named his opponent, but he requested that he be part of UFC 320, scheduled for September 13th in Guadalajara, Mexico.

“I think I can move the needle,” Moreno said after the fight.

Erceg dropped three in a row after a quick UFC start and then back to the drawings again.

“I’m coming back,” Elseg said.

In the evening’s co-main event, Manuel Torres overwhelmed 12-year UFC veteran Drew Dover to secure his first technical knockout. Dover took at least 16 unanswered shots on the side of his head before the judge stopped the fight.

Torres has returned to his victory column for the first time in over a year, but Dover lost four of his last five years to May 2023.

In a previous fight on Saturday, Mexican UFC bantamweight star Raul Rosas Jr. survived a late horror from Vince Morales, dodging the third round of Dalce Chalk submission, winning unanimous decisions 29-28, 29-28, 29-28.

Rosas Jr. set fire to the crowds in his hometown and won his fifth victory in his final six appearances. Using his vivid boxing, he re-signed the promotion soon after, after not winning overall martial arts since last August.
