Naomi Osaka returned to the Wimbledon Championships in London on Monday for the 2026 Grand Slam tennis tournament in a Hana Yagi walk-on look that celebrates the player’s Japanese heritage.
Osaka stepped onto Court 3 at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club wearing a ceremonial kimono with billowing long sleeves, ornate embroidery and a ruffled skirt that followed the tennis star during her walk-on.

The intricately crafted piece features a thick, wide white belt at the waist with a decorative obi strap, enhancing the traditional details of the overall look. The customary long-sleeved kimono, with its flowing sleeves, added further depth and cultural respect to the overall look.
The skirt incorporated some of the modern, playful elements that Osaka has become well known for in her on-court looks. The four-time Grand Slam champion’s long skirt featured semi-sheer tiered tulle fabric. Underneath her walk-on look, Osaka wore a traditional sleeveless Nike tennis dress with floral details and a scalloped hem.

As an on-court accessory, Osaka wore a white flower decoration with a string of petals on her vans. The overall look paid homage to Osaka’s Japanese heritage, but also paid homage to Wimbledon’s long-standing traditional tennis dress in black and white.
Hana Yagi, a Tokyo-based designer in her 20s, started her brand after being selected as a finalist in an international talent support contest in Italy. Yagi will be one of the designers to help curate Naomi Osaka’s walk-on look during the 2026 tennis season, following Robert Wang’s jellyfish-inspired look for the Australian Open in January 2026 and Kevin Germania’s design for Naomi Osaka at the French Open in May 2026.

The 2026 edition of Wimbledon opens on Monday and concludes on July 12th. Italy’s Jannik Sinner and Poland’s Iga Świętek will compete to defend their men’s and women’s singles titles, while Serena Williams continues her return to professional tennis for the first time in nearly four years.
