Openai is preparing to launch a new line of AI agents, ranging from $2,000 to $20,000 per month for tasks like coding and PHD-level research. These AI-driven tools are designed for high-level tasks such as sales lead sorting, software engineering, and advanced research.

The leaked details suggest that Openai structures its offering into three layers. The lowest-priced agent, set at $2,000 per month, is aimed at high-paying professionals who need AI assistance for knowledge-based work.

“The news commented that in Deepseek, three guys running AI in the US would have dinner together and set a higher price and create a new caste system.

Without Deepseek, these three mothers of AI in the US would have dinner together, set the price of AI very high, creating a new caste in the world.

Was AI justified or is it $20,000 a month for purely priced gouging?

According to the report, the more advanced coding agent costs around $10,000 a month, and is suitable for developers and engineers. At the top of the spectrum, the $20,000-per-month agent is expected to focus on doctoral-level research, supporting detailed analysis and complex problem solving.

“It’s plotted by Openai, who charges PHD-level agents $20,000 a month. Openai plans three types of agents, which could cost between $2,000 and $20,000 a month,” the information reports.

Openai executives are discussing these plans with investors, and are reportedly positioning AI agents as the leading revenue driver. The company expects the new category to contribute between 20% and 25% of its long-term revenue. Details regarding availability and customer eligibility remain unknown, but the consistency of details across multiple reports adds weight to the information.

The report also added that Openai’s pricing strategy shows a move to premium AI services, with companies likely to compete directly with corporate-focused AI providers. While broader access to these AI agents remains problematic, the layered structure shows a strong driving force for monetizing AI beyond consumer-level tools.
