According to Pakistan, the Baroque Liberation Army (BLA) armed groups are targeting vehicles with improvised explosive devices.

According to the Pakistani army, seven Pakistani army soldiers were killed when their vehicles were targeted by improvised explosive devices in southwestern Balochistan, accusing India of the attack amid rising tensions.

Pakistani forces said members of the Baroque Liberation Army (BLA) armed groups targeted vehicles carrying soldiers from provinces adjacent to Iran and Afghanistan on Tuesday.

The group described it as “representative of India,” but did not provide evidence to support that claim. There were no immediate comments from New Delhi or the BLA.

A senior local government official told AFP’s agency that the hit vehicle was part of a convoy on its way to a security operation.

He said five people were injured and taken by helicopter to a military hospital in Quetta, the provincial capital.

More than 200 people were killed in 2025 by Balochistan’s armed groups and neighboring Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, according to AFP Tally.

When at least 31 soldiers, many soldiers, were killed in March, Bla hijacked a train carrying more than 400 passengers while traveling from Quetta to Peshawar in the north.

The military bombing took place amid growing tensions between nuclear-armed Pakistan and India after an Indian-controlled shooting attack in Pahargam region of Kashmir killed 25 Indian tourists and one Nepali citizen on April 22.

India has accused Pakistan of supporting the “terrorist” groups that had launched the attack, Islamabad denied.

After the Pahargam attack, India and Pakistan took a series of measures against each other as Pakistan warns that India may be preparing to launch a military attack.

The two countries suspended trade, closed land border intersections, closed airspace to each other, expelled citizens and diplomats, and India suspended major water treaties.

On Tuesday, Pakistan Prime Minister Shebaz Sharif visited the headquarters of the country’s top spying agency, Interservice Intelligence Bureau, along with his deputy prime minister, foreign and defense minister and military chiefs, to attend security briefings.

Pakistan conducted two missile tests over three days, but India announced plans for civil defense drills across several states on Wednesday.

The two countries also aired complaints during a UN Security Council meeting in New York on Monday.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres emphasizes the need to avoid military conflicts that allow for easy spin-out of “out-of-control.”

“Now is the time to get the most restraint and come back from the brink,” he said Monday.
