Ukrainian President Voldimia Zelensky will abandon his position in exchange for NATO peace and membership as his country was attacked, known as the biggest Russian drone attack that has been faced since the war began. I offered to do so.

Zelenskyy made an offer at a press conference held in Kiev on Sunday, as a rift spreads between President Donald Trump’s own government and the new US government, on the eve of Russia’s full-scale scale. I did it. War with Ukraine.

“if [it means] Peace in Ukraine, if you really need to leave my post, I’m ready,” Zelensky said. “This can be exchanged for NATO [membership]if that condition is immediately. ”

Amid a rapid shift from the previous US administration of Zelensky and President Joe Biden, who strongly supported Ukraine, Trump has been increasingly attacking the Ukrainian president since taking office last month. Last week, Trump called Zelenskyy “dictators” and “dictators” who had little support from Ukrainians. He made these comments after Ukrainian leaders said Trump was operating in the “disinformation space” after the US president expressed the views Russia holds in the war.

But Zelensky said on Sunday that the US president wanted to be a partner rather than just a mediator.

“I really want it to be more than just mediation. …That’s not enough,” Zelensky added that he wanted to meet Trump before a meeting between the US leader and Russian President Vladimir Putin. .

The US is providing support to Ukraine, with the latter conditional on the trade in rare earth minerals. Washington initially demanded 50% ownership of the mineral in exchange for continued support from Kiev.

Although Ukraine has shown that it can negotiate the deal, Zelensky on Sunday rejected Trump’s claim that his country owes $500 million to the United States. The Ukrainian president said the money given was in the form of grants rather than loans and should not be bound by mineral trade.

US officials said Sunday that they hope they will be signed soon.

Trump envoy Steve Witkov said Zelensky “was shaking in his commitment.” [US access to Ukrainian minerals] A week ago, however, after a message from Trump, he “can’t shake any more.” Witkov predicted that the contract would be signed this week.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bescent also said the deal was signed and he said it was a “hope” that would happen this week.

This all opposes the background of a settlement between Trump and Putin, and in recent weeks, direct dialogue between Moscow and Washington was on Tuesday between Saudi Arabia’s Secretary of State Sergie Lavrov and Russian Foreign Minister Discusses the end of the war, including the meeting of the war.

Russian deputy minister Sergei Riabakov said on Sunday that the Russian and American teams are planning to meet this week to discuss ways to improve relations.

“We are waiting for real progress when the scheduled meeting takes place at the end of next week,” Lyabakov was quoted by Tas, the state communications agency.

Ukraine was not involved in Russian consultations, leading Zelensky to emphasize that the agreement with Ukraine would not be realized without Ukrainians at the table.

The biggest drone attack

Zelenskyy previously said Russia has carried out its biggest drone attack on Ukraine since the war began, launching 267 drones against his country overnight.

Writing on social media, Zelenskyy said last week that Russia launched 1,150 attack drones, more than 1,400 guided air bombs and 35 missiles in Ukraine.

“Every day, our people oppose the fears in the air,” Zelensky said, calling on Europe and the United States to stand with Ukraine.

Air Force spokesman Yuriy Ignat said of the drones launched Saturday night and early Sunday, 138 were intercepted by air defense, while 119 were “lost” without causing damage.

He said the 267 drones discovered in the Ukrainian skies were “a record of a single attack” since the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Another Ukrainian military statement on Sunday regarding Telegram said several regions, including the Ukrainian capital Kiev, were “hits.”

On Saturday, a Russian missile attack on the central town of Cliviy Li killed one man and injured five people, regional authorities said.

“The war continues. Everyone who can support air defense needs to work to strengthen the protection of human life. We will do everything possible to bring lasting and mere peace to Ukraine. We have to do that,” Zelensky said.

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine began on February 24, 2022. However, the Russian army and its allies have been fighting in eastern Ukraine since 2014.

Al Jazeera’s Imran Khan said a report from Kiev said Ukrainians called Russian drone strikes “state-sponsored terrorism.”

“It’s actually scary that civilians are under those attacks, even if they are successfully intercepted,” he said.

Since the start of the war, Ukraine has sought to disrupt Russian logistics far from the frontline, in order to prevent daily strikes, particularly by directly attacking military bases and industrial sites within Russia itself.
