Coventry Building Society Arena is one of the first organizations at West Midlands to win the Green Tourism Award through its partnership with the West Midlands Growth Company.
Following the announcement of the arena’s new sustainability partnership with E.ON, it has been awarded bronze certification to business, sports and entertainment venues, promoting continuous decarbonization. Currently, we will work with Green Tourism to advance towards achieving Silver and Gold Level Awards.
The comprehensive process required arenas to provide evidence of sustainability across 18 categories related to environmental, social and governance (ESG) standards.
The venue has made great strides to become more sustainable over the past two years. For example, you can eliminate single-use plastic packaging, reduce waste, and send as little as possible to landfill.
The Green Tourism Award also recognizes the arena’s contribution to the community and economy.
Last year, the venue hosted 55 community tours with 1,429 people. He also welcomed five school visits and supported seven local charities, including holding a day at Christmas for 200 guests in December.
“We’re looking forward to seeing you in the world,” said Tom Davis, head of supply chain at Arena.
“Achieving this certification is a recognition of the efforts made by teams in recent years to strengthen sustainable practices, including encouraging partners and visitors to be aware of their environmental impacts.
