The Cabinet consists of 23 ministers from diverse backgrounds amid a global demand for greater inclusiveness.

Syrian Ahmed al-Shara announced the transitional government and appointed 23 ministers in a new and expanded diverse cabinet.

The cabinet announced on Saturday included Arawian Yarb Badr, who was appointed Minister of Transport, but included Amgad Badr, who belongs to the Druze community, heading the Ministry of Agriculture.

“The establishment of a new government today is a declaration of the joint will to build a new nation,” Alshara said in a speech showing the formation of the government.

The government does not have a prime minister. Alshara is expected to lead the government.

Al Jazeera’s resultsul Sardar, reporting from Beirut, Lebanon, said that Al Shalla is “trying to show a world where Syrians and the world reflect Syrian diversity.”

“People criticized him for appointing all his close friends to all ministerial positions before. [in the caretaker cabinet]He added.

The new rulers of Syria have been pressured by the West and Arab countries to form a government that is more inclusive of the country’s diverse ethnic and religious communities.

That pressure has risen this month following the murder of hundreds of Alawi civilians, a minority who expelled former President Bashar al-Assad in violence along Syria’s west coast.

A veteran opposition figure, Syrian Christian minority and longtime al-Assad opponent, Hind Kabawat, was named the Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, the first woman appointed to Al-Sharaa.

Mohammed Jos Bernie was appointed Minister of Finance, while Muruhaf Abu Kasra and Assad al-Shabani, who were former caretakers ministers, were retained, although they were defence and foreign ministers.

Caregiver ministers under Al-Sharaa are governing Syria after Al-Assad fell in December by a lightning rebel attack. In January, Alshara was appointed interim president, who promised to build a public institution with broken guts in Syria and form a comprehensive transitional government that runs the country until elections.

Alshara said it was the first time establishing a ministry of emergency and disasters, along with White Helmet, a Syrian rescuer who worked in the area where the rebels were in charge.

Earlier this month, Syria issued a constitutional declaration designed to serve as a basis for interim periods led by Alshara.
