South Korean tech giant Samsung doubles down on artificial intelligence, expanding its reach beyond smartphones and tablets with Galaxy AI, now integrating it into the core of its home appliances to create a truly connected home.

Screens Everywhere: Samsung’s Vision

Forget about “dumb” appliances. Samsung envisions a future where washers, dryers, and refrigerators—equipped with smart screens—communicate with each other and with us, learning from our routines to simplify our lives.

At World of Samsung 2025, the South Korean manufacturer reaffirmed its commitment to this vision by introducing the new AI Home.

According to tech news outlet Xataka, more compact than the 32-inch Family Hub the 7 to 9-inch AI Home Display integrates into various appliances, offering features like streaming, weather updates, call management, and smart control of the appliance’s functions.

AI at Home: How Does It Work?

Samsung’s AI goes beyond mere connectivity. Its intelligent algorithms, processed locally on embedded microprocessors, optimize appliance performance.

This is a complete ecosystem of smart appliances. They learn from our habits and fine-tune their operations thanks to AI.

For example, AI Wash in washing machines detects fabric type and dirt levels, adjusting the wash cycle and detergent amount accordingly.

AI Dry in dryers tailors drying based on load weight and fabric type.Auto Cycle Link enables communication between washers and dryers, optimizing the entire laundry process without user intervention.

Smart Fridges and Beyond

AI also extends to refrigerators, intelligently regulating internal temperature and adapting to external conditions. This is just the beginning.

Since CES 2025, Samsung has unveiled a series of AI-powered appliances promising greater comfort and efficiency.

AI Energy Mode, via SmartThings, provides detailed consumption insights, promoting more efficient and responsible energy use.

The connected home, as Samsung imagines it, revolves around smart integration and AI-driven automation, paving the way for a future where technology adapts to our needs.

The Price of Innovation: A Luxury for the Premium Market

While the idea of an AI-powered smart home is appealing, its cost restricts it to a specific segment of consumers. The incorporation of AI significantly drives up appliance prices.

Though Samsung has tried to democratize access with the AI Home Display, prices remain steep. For example, the Bespoke AI washer with an AI Home Display costs around €1,599. The French Door Bespoke AI fridge starts at €3,779 and the Bespoke AI Jet Ultra vacuum begins at €1,349.

The Democratization Challenge

For now, AI in home appliances remains a premium feature. The question is how Samsung and other manufacturers will tackle the challenge of making this technology more accessible.

How can it reach a broader audience? Market evolution and future strategies will determine whether AI in the home becomes standard or remains a privilege for the few.
