WASHINGTON (AP) — The Trump administration has issued a list of requests that Harvard University must meet as a condition to receive nearly $9 billion in grants and contracts, federal money. I’m being threatened Under investigation of campus anti-Semitism.

In a letter to President Harvard, three federal agencies outlined the demands described as necessary for a “continuous fiscal relationship” with the government. It’s similar to a letter of demand I’ve urged a change Columbia University is under threat of billions of dollars in cuts.

The letter describes Harvard federal funds as performance-based taxpayer investments. Harvard said it was “a fundamental failure in protecting American students and faculty from anti-Semitic violence and harassment.”

Harvard confirmed it had received the letter.

The letter calls for a ban on facial masks. This is also happening in Colombia, targeting Palestinian protesters who have once worn masks to hide their identity. Harvard also needs to clarify campus voice policies that limit the time, location and methods of protests and other activities.

Harvard University’s academic department reviewed “fuel prevention harassment” and said it needs to be changed to address bias and improve diversity of perspectives. They will not elect a campus division or order a change in leadership, as Trump administration officials have done in the Middle East Studies Division of Columbia.

It also calls for stronger enforcement of existing discipline policies on all actions taken in response to anti-Semitism since October 7, 2023, since Hamas’ attacks on Israel.

Other demands, while consistent with President Donald Trump’s political agenda, do not appear to be directly related to investigations on anti-Semitism.

It includes an order that adopts a “met-based” admission and employment policy and removes preferences based on race, religion, gender and other characteristics. Harvard also needs to work to finish Diversity, Equity and Inclusive Program It teaches students and faculty to “make snap judgments about each other based on crude race and identity stereotypes.”

It was sent by officials from the General Services Bureau, the Department of Education and the Department of Health and Human Services.

Federal authorities on Monday notified Harvard University that it faces a “comprehensive review” and will determine its eligibility to receive grants of $255 million and more than $8 billion on its contract.

Harvard President Alan Gerber responded with a campus message that the school “dedicated considerable effort to address anti-Semitism,” saying it would provide full accounting to the government.

Harvard is one of several schools that have threatened federal money by the Trump administration. Brown University It’s the latest Thursday as the government suspended $510 million in a $510 million grant and a contract over its response to anti-Semitism.
