It was activated to protect Polish airspace following the Russian strike in western Poland, to protect Polish airspace, the Polish military operational headquarters said. He said the strike killed 85 military personnel and foreign officers and destroyed 20 vehicles. Ukrainian general staff refused the claim. Russia’s Ministry of Defense said air defense units “intercept and destroy” the Kursk and Belgorod regions, as well as the South Rostov regions, which had crossed Ukraine’s borders, overnight. The Russian Ministry of Defense said Kiev had seven attacks on Moscow’s energy infrastructure facilities between April 5 and 6 despite a suspension on the US-mediated energy strike. According to the province, the attack targeted the Crimean region, where Russia annexed from Ukraine in 2014, as well as the Briance, Rostov and Bolognez regions of Russia. The ministry also said the Kremlin forces have launched an overnight strike using long-range precision weapons and drones against Ukrainian central artillery and defense industry companies involved in drone production. According to the province, Moscow controlled the village of Besibka in the Smie region of Ukraine, with a rare cross-border advance. French President Emmanuel Macron called for “strong action” against Russia if Moscow “continues to refuse peace.” “We need a ceasefire as soon as possible,” Macron said. Russian international economic envoy, Kiril Dmitriev, told the country’s Channel One TV that Russia and the US could resume contact with each other “next week.” Ukrainian Economic Minister Yulia Swillidenko told The Associated Press that she will send her team to Washington, D.C. next week to negotiate a new draft deal that would grant the US access to Ukraine’s rare earth minerals.
