The comments aired ahead of Putin’s three-day ceasefire, as Ukrainian Zelensky says Russia “doesn’t believe” in which he sticks to the pledge.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that there is no need to use nuclear weapons in Ukraine and has not expressed “hope.”
Putin said his country had enough “strength and means” to bring about the three-year war caused by Russia’s 2022 invasion of Ukraine. His comments were part of a documentary showing his quarter-century power by the state television channel Rossiya 1, released on Sunday.

“No faith”
During a visit to the Czech Republic, Ukrainian President Voldimi Zelenki said he “doesn’t believe” Russia would stick to the ceasefire. “This is not the first challenge, and these are not the first promises made by Russia to stop the fire,” he said.

The hostility continues as the two countries are still in conflict over competing ceasefire proposals.
Russia fired two ballistic missiles and a total of 165 explosive drones and decoys overnight, the Ukrainian Air Force said. Of these, 69 were intercepted, and another 80 were lost, possibly clogged electronically.
Ukrainian officials said two people were killed on Sunday by Russian guided bombs, each and one in the Smie area.

The Russian Ministry of Defense said its air defense fired down 13 Ukrainian drones overnight.
Russia’s regional governor, Bryansk, said Ukrainian forces had attacked an electrical equipment factory near the border with Ukraine, destroying many of the plants, but had not suffered any casualties.
