Who killed Shireen? It also lifts the lid to the US attempt to curb the truth about the 2022 murder of a veteran Al Jazeera journalist.

The filmmakers behind a new documentary about the murder of Al Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu Akure by Israeli forces, say they have revealed the identity of the soldiers who pulled the trigger.

Who killed Shireen, a 40-minute research documentary released by Washington, D.C.-based media company Zeteo on Thursday? Killer identifies as a 20-year-old Israeli soldier who took part in the first battle tour of the murder and lifted the lid in a US attempt to avoid the responsibility of the US Israeli.

Dion Nissenbaum, executive producer of the documentary, told Al Jazeera that the maker tried to reveal exactly who was behind the murder. This, according to Zeteo, was a secret closely guarded by Israel, hoped that the results would lead to further investigations in the United States.

The administration of former US President Joe Biden “were finished when Israeli soldiers intentionally targeted her, but that conclusion was dismissed internally,” he said.

“We have found some evidence that both Israel and the Biden administration have concealed Syreen’s murder and allowed soldiers to escape without accountability,” he added.

Sirene’s brother, Anton Abu Akure, said the documentary was “really important” to her family. “It will shed more light and prove that she was systematically targeted by the Israeli military, like other Palestinian journalists,” he said.

The documentary features exclusive interviews with former US officials as well as former Israeli officials and soldiers, as well as journalists who know Shireen personally.

“We hope that people will remind us what the Shireen icon is,” Nissenbaum said.

“Cold blood”

Abu Akure wore a press vest clearly marked with a helmet when he was killed while covering an Israeli attack at the Jenin refugee camp on May 11, 2022.

All investigations into her murder, conducted by the press, rights groups and the United Nations, conclude that Abu Akle was intentionally killed by Israeli soldiers.

Israel initially attempted to distract the charges for the incident, suggesting that a Palestinian fighter had killed the journalist, but eventually walked back the allegations and said that the army was responsible for her death, and that it was an “accident.”

A year later, Israeli forces described Abu Akure’s death as “deeply sorry,” but said they would not launch a criminal case against the soldiers believed to be behind the murder.

The United States has withdrawn its request for an Israeli criminal investigation after an Israeli apology.

Abu Akure’s death shocked the world, focusing on the international spotlight on the murder of Israel of Palestinian journalists.

Reporters without borders said on Friday that Israeli forces killed nearly 200 journalists in the first 18 months of Israel’s full attack on Gaza.
