The team at Creative Communications Agency DRPG has completed a 200-mile charity challenge that follows the Severn River, from the Welsh sources to the Severn Bridge.

The four-day Source To Sea Challenge, held last week, marked the company’s 45th anniversary and aimed to raise £20,000 for the four nominated charities.

The route, led by CEO Dale Parmenter and Marketing and Engagement Lead Lead Alex Cottom, began with the origins of the river at Prin-Limon Mountains in Wales, and concluded with the Severn Bridge, which spans the terrain by foot, bike and kayak.

The challengers faced unfavourable weather conditions and equipment issues, including rainy rain and multiple tire punctures, increasing the physical and physical demands of the journey.

Permentor said: “So many moments will push us towards the edge, circulating intensive rain, wrestling with some punks, and we will probably kayaking in a stream that we hadn’t tried to do business.”

He added: “But this challenge is about what we can achieve when we come together, because the 45th anniversary of the DRPG is everything.”

He continued: “When we first came up with this idea, it felt like it was just too much a step. Our mantra is “anything can do” and this indicates that you can achieve anything.

The rest of the group’s marketing team took on the role of support crew and escorted challengers along the route to build local knowledge and relationships, secured goodwill service at bike shops, and secured donations from B&BS and passersby over four days.

This challenge was organized in support of three charity partners. Needs, All Wheels, Creative Futures, Severn Rivers Trust. Each organization was selected based on its work within inclusion, creativity, environmental conservation and support for the event industry.

Cotton said: “It’s been the most physically demanding thing ever, but the support from our teams, communities and charities is incredible. We’ve mostly achieved our goals and we’ll help our DRPG network, clients, partners and others cross that financial finish line before we celebrate our June anniversary.”

At the end of the challenge, the initiative raised almost half its £20,000 target, and the team continues to appeal for more support ahead of the group’s anniversary milestone in June.

Permentor said: “The support from the industry has been amazing. Over the past few days, there have been so many texts, emails and donations from our competitors, which I think shows the amazing community we have in the events industry.”

He added: “It’s great that this kind of thing can attract the industry and we all work together to help others.
