The Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC) reported record revenue of £16 million per year until December 31, 2024, with profits of £2.1 million, with an economic impact of £78 million per year.

The economic impact figures are related to the direct benefits of conferences and events taking place in Edinburgh and surrounding areas at the EICC, totaling around £930 million since the EICC opened its doors in 1995.

Over 79,000 representatives attended the annual EICC event, an increase of around 4% the previous year.

In 2024, 164 events were held at the venue, and in 2023, the number of representative days was approximately 180,000 days compared to approximately 146,000.

Major events include Covid-19 in the UK last year, while major events at the EICC include the UK Covid-19 survey, the Pension and Lifetime Savings Association Investment Conference and the International General Meeting of Electrical Engineering.

EICC CEO Marshall Dallas has resigned after 10 years, but said, “Our focus has been to always position EICC with a mission to inspire ideas to change the world as one of the world’s leading and most sustainable conference centers.”

He added: “The number of events held last year was moderately reduced, but the delegation date has increased with several days of meetings, increasing attendance at those events, and we consider it an important metric.”

Dallas added: “While the UK and International Association conference operations continue to be at the heart of the matter, we continue to diversify the scope of events held at the venue. The leading Scotland conference venues also have a pipeline for events this year and next year.”

With the aim of EICC celebrating its 30th anniversary later this year, the chairman of the Lezley Marion Cameron EICC Board said:

She added: “We are grateful to have wished him for the financial stability and performance of EICC when he was appointed in 2014, through innovation and diversification, for his future, up to today’s success story.”
