Anysphere has launched a new $200 subscription plan for Cursor, a popular AI coding tool. The company announced in a blog post Monday.
The new plan, Ultra, offers users more than 20 times more usage on AI models from Openai, Anthropic, Google Deepmind and Xai. Anysphere also says that Ultra plan cursor users will get priority access to the new features.
Anysphere CEO Michael Truell said in his blog that Ultra Plans have become possible through a multi-year partnership with AI model providers. Over the past few months, Openai, Anthropic, and Google Deepmind have rolled out equally expensive subscription plans as part of their efforts to leverage power users and increase usage.
The new, priced cursor subscription plan appears poised to add revenue to Anysphere’s already booming business. Earlier this month, Anysphere announced that Cursor has reached $500 million in recurring annual revenues and is being used by major companies such as Nvidia, Uber and Adobe.
Anysphere is one of the fastest companies to date to reach a $100 million ARR and does not appear to have slowed down. Based on previous TechCrunch reports, Cursor’s ARR has increased by $200 million from April.
However, the competition to develop “vibe coding” tools has been heated, and many AI coding products that many cursors of AI model providers rely on are developing. Openai reportedly acquired Cursor’s competitor Windsurf to enhance its AI coding offerings. Meanwhile, humanity continues to develop Claude Code, an in-house AI coding tool that uses popular AI models.
It is unclear whether Anysphere can maintain this level of growth without hitting AI model providers. As these businesses grow, we have seen more competitive tactics emerge in the AI coding space. Anthropic, for example, recently reduced direct access to Windsurf’s Claude AI model as a way to undermine its biggest competitor, Openai.
At the same time, Anysphere began to invest more resources towards developing its own AI models that work with Openai and the human model. In May, AnySphere launched a new “Tab” AI model. This can suggest changes to the code across different files.
In a recent interview with TechCrunch, humanity co-founder Jared Kaplan said he believes that humanity has been working with Cursor for a long time. Anysphere’s multi-year partnership with humanity and other AI model providers certainly suggests that these relationships still don’t go anywhere. Nonetheless, users are becoming more competitive.
