The 41-year-old family issued a statement confirming that they had taken their own life on a farm in Western Australia.

Virginia Giuffre, who accused Jeffrey Epstein and Prince Andrew of sexual abuse, died of suicide at the age of 41, her family said.

Giuffle was one of the most prominent victims of convicted sex offender Epstein and his former partner, Gislaine Maxwell. She claimed they trafficked her to the Duke of York when she was 17.

Her family said she died in Western Australia on Friday.

“Virginia was a fierce warrior in the fight against sexual abuse and sex trafficking. She was the light that lifted so many survivors,” the family said in a statement. “In spite of all the adversity she faced in her life, she was shining so brightly. She is overlooked immeasurably.”

Western Australia police said they were called to property in Nigaby, a rural area outside Perth late Friday. They confirmed the death of the unappointed 41-year-old woman and said that attempts to revive her were unsuccessful. Foul play is not questioned.

Born in the United States, Giuffre lived outside of North Perth with her husband Robert and her children. However, recent reports suggest that the couple split after 22 years of marriage.

Three weeks ago, Giuffre posted on Instagram saying he was seriously injured in a car accident. Her family later said local police disputed the seriousness of the incident, but that the post was not intended to be made public.

Court documents released in 2019 suggest that Giuffre met Ghislaine Maxwell in the early 2000s, but are allegedly working as a spa attendant at Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.

Between 2000 and 2002, she spent time with Epstein and Maxwell – traveling to Epstein’s home in Palm Beach and Manhattan, visiting Little St James’ ranch on New Mexico and Private Island.

It is said that at this time, Giuffre met Prince Andrew. In March 2001, the now-acclaimed photo was taken, with her arm standing next to Andrew around the arm of Maxwell’s London townhouse.

Giuffre was one of the earliest voices calling for criminal prosecution for Epstein. He was eventually charged with sex trafficking in July 2019, and authorities say he died of suicide in a New York prison a few weeks later.

Ghislaine Maxwell has been found guilty of assisting in the abuse of an Epstein teenage girl and is currently sentenced to 20 years in a Florida prison.

In 2022, Giuffre settled a civil lawsuit against Prince Andrew.

US President Donald Trump has pledged to release all documents related to the Epstein case, including the names of his powerful companions. The first batch of files was published in February, but it didn’t include any major revelation. Trump himself has been appointed as a member of Epstein.

Following her public accusations, Giuffre became a prominent campaigner and I, too, became the central voice of the movement.
