Exclusively at Conference News, Louisa Watson, Marketing Director at Wyboston Venue Management, shares insights on mouse marketing.
Be honest – the biggest marketing has changed. Also. Post-pandemic recovery has resulted in hybrid buzzwords and webinar fatigue. Now we are obsessed with a new stage. The venue where they won in 2025? They aren’t screaming loudly. They are sharper. Smarter. It’s more relevant.
At WVM, the venue helps you get through the noise and actually book your business. So here is a view from the forefront. It’s a place where you’re focused on what you’re working in mouse marketing, what’s exaggerated, what’s energy.
AI: A handy tool or flashy distraction?
AI can do great things. We found it helpful in automating contact follow-up, improving SEO, and personalizing your website journey. But don’t pretend it’s magic.
Most venues have not yet touched on AI. Many people don’t need it yet. It’s a tool. It’s perfect for speeding up administrators rather than replacing real thinking. If you’re not nailing basic sales follow-ups, AI won’t save you.
Verdict: Use it to speed up the boring stuff rather than swapping sales teams.
Short Form Video: Still Secret Weapons
Instagram reel. Tiktox. Set up venues, behind the scenes teams, or quick edits of testimonial clips. They work.
Note span is short. Venues that are not shown have clicked and more enquiries. Tested across the client. Short, crude clips often outweigh sophisticated promotions.
Verdict: Please show the venue in person. Don’t wait for a full shot. Just post it.
LinkedIn Rule B2B. But don’t ignore Instagram
LinkedIn is still a reliable tool for corporate organizers. However, Instagram is catching up to its training providers, charities and community bookers, among other things. Tiktok? It’s not very relevant now, but it’s worth watching.
If you’re only using one channel, you’ll probably be lonely without people.
Verdict: LinkedIn for Leads, Instagram for Influence. Know where your audience scrolls.
Traditional Advertising: Is it still worth it?
We don’t write down prints. It still builds reliability, especially for high value events and public sector clients. But that’s not where the lead begins anymore. If you don’t link your prints to digital (QRS, landing pages, retargeting), you’re wasting your budget.
Verdict: Building trust using printing. Convert using digital.
What is the best way to build engagement?
Good marketing isn’t just about pushing content. Create moments. Site visits, virtual tours, personalized emails, fast replies, and that’s what makes people leaning.
The venue could change their interest in booking by simply closing the inquiry form or sending a short personalized video response.
Verdict: Real engagement is personal. It’s not just a click, it’s a conversation.
What’s next?
2025 isn’t about doing everything. It’s about doing the right thing well.
Know your audience. Show me your space. Follow up quickly. And don’t be afraid to drop anything that is not working.
