Doge officials are scheduled to visit the FAA headquarters on Monday as the union says the workforce is “already thinning.”

President Donald Trump’s administration has launched a mass shooting campaign targeting the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), which includes workers focused on radar, landings and navigation maintenance.

Officials from the Bureau of Government Efficiency (DOGE), an advisory committee led by billionaire Elon Musk, continue to make controversial efforts to access government data and reduce the federal workforce. , visiting the FAA headquarters on Monday.

Despite efforts to boost employment in recent years, hundreds of probation employees were among those fired from the FAA. Insiders have long warned that the FAA’s current workforce has faded and that air traffic control systems are chronically underresourced.

“We are plagued and disappointed by the administration’s decision to fire the pass of FAA probation employees.

The union said the termination notice appears to come from outside the official government communications system used to ensure the security of email messages and to ensure transparency in the case of record requests. .

“Hundreds of employees were affected by messages sent from “exec Order” Microsoft’s email address, not from official .GOV email addresses,” the union explained.

“Messages began to arrive after 7pm on February 14th, and lasted late into the night.”

The shooting comes weeks after a fatal air collision across the Potomac River near the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport in Washington, D.C.

The crash, which took place on January 29 between a passenger jet and a Black Hawk military helicopter, sparked a debate over the safety of US travel and conditions for air traffic workers.

All passengers on both aircraft were killed: 64 civilians and three soldiers.

One controller was responsible for overseeing both commercial and helicopter flights around the bustling airport on the day of crash. Trump and his allies have condemned cases regarding the diversity initiative without evidence. The collision is under investigation.

In a social media post on Sunday, Transport Secretary Sean Duffy said Doge staff members would look at the current system firsthand and learn what air traffic controllers like and dislike about current tools. “We’ve said we’ll go to the FAA headquarters to imagine what to imagine. We can create a new, better, modern and safer system.”

The FAA averages around 45,000 flights per day, with a quarter of all flights in the world arriving or departing at US airports.

The Pass Coalition denounced the fire, saying “Draconia’s actions will increase workload and place new responsibility on the already thinning workforce.”
